Provide $125 of new clothing to each child in the program through an annual event at KOHL’s in Poughkeepsie, NY. Volunteers (age 16 & over) are paired with a family to assist them in shopping. Clothe a Child seeks to accomplish this goal by expanding its reach through partnerships with churches, businesses, and neighbors in the community.

Our Mission
Clothe a Child seeks to address the clothing needs of economically disadvantaged children in our communities through partnerships with KOHL’s – Department Store, churches, friends & businesses. We want to be intentional in addressing the ever-growing needs of children in our community.
All communities have children in need of new clothes. Unfortunately, not all families have the means to provide the basic clothing items they need for school – shoes, shirts, jackets, jeans, underwear, etc. As Christ followers in the community, we feel the call to help these children obtain new clothes.
Clothe a Child partners with area churches, organizations, individuals and businesses in the community to serve the new clothing needs of economically disadvantaged Kindergarten through 8th grade school children in Poughkeepsie NY
Clothe a Child will seek to impact as many qualified families from as many schools in our communities as possible. School counselors of local Poughkeepsie schools will identify children through interaction with the families and the “free & reduced lunch” program. The counselor will provide each qualified child an application to be completed by the parents/guardians. The completed applications are returned to the school, and then turned into a Clothe a Child committee for review. Each family is contacted to confirm their children’s acceptance into the program.
Clothe a Child was started in 1989 by Dr. Lawrence Kennedy of the North Church in Carrollton, TX. This program was duplicated at McKinney Fellowship Bible Church in 1999. In 2003, Clothe a Child was started in Frisco TX. and has increased its impact each year. Our hope is to duplicate success of this program in the City of Poughkeepsie NY.
ClotheAChild/Poughkeepsie is a 100% volunteer run organization 100% of donations received will go to providing new clothes to children in the Poughkeepsie area.
Administration costs are minimal and are underwritten by another source, not by your donations.
